Population and background
Resectable, borderline resectable, locally advanced and metastatic pancreatic cancers need separate discussion.
What the evidence shows
Pancreatic cancer treatment order considers resectability and health. Surgery, medicines, radiotherapy and supportive care serve different purposes.
Conclusions that cannot be drawn
The hospital must assess resectability and surgical timing. Compare outcomes in populations with similar stage, treatment and follow-up. Center survival rates cannot be compared directly with national registry figures.
Questions to ask your doctor
Which resectability category do my images indicate, and why? If medicines come first, when will reassessment reconsider surgery? How will jaundice, pain or nutrition problems be managed?
