View eligibility and treatment pathways
- Applicable situations
- Some patients with relapsed or refractory blood cancers, including lymphoma, leukaemia or multiple myeloma; assessment is product-specific.
- How to access it in China
- Confirm approved indications for the specific product. Solid tumours require project-specific research assessment.
SinoCareHub can help you contact the receiving center to compare treatment plans, costs and scheduling, and confirm access requirements. Choose free consultation
- Important risks
- Serious problems may include cytokine release syndrome, neurological toxicity and infections. Post-treatment monitoring and long-term follow-up are part of the whole pathway.
Costs, cycles and length of stay
- Cost reference (USD)
- About USD 179,300 per infusion (medicine cost example), converted from published Yikaida and Beinuoda prices before reimbursement. Apheresis, conditioning, inpatient care and complications are additional; this is not the treatment total.
- Sessions and treatment cycles
- Usually one infusion. In Lu Daopei Hospital’s published pathway, cell manufacturing takes about 2–3 weeks, followed by conditioning, infusion and ongoing follow-up. Solid tumour studies follow their own protocols.
- Length of stay in China
- The hospital reports a total inpatient stay of about 3–4 weeks, which may be extended by adverse reactions. Separately confirm whether manufacturing waits and outpatient follow-up require staying in China.
Additional costs to budget for
Separately check apheresis, bridging treatment, conditioning, inpatient monitoring, complication management and follow-up. Trial consent documents determine whether a study covers medicines and tests.
Eligibility, process and evidence
Treatment or testing process
- 1.Collect T cells
- 2.Modify and expand cells
- 3.Infuse cells and continue monitoring
What the doctor will assess
The hospital checks subtype, targets, previous treatment, infections and organ function against the product information or study protocol. Gastric cancer CLDN18.2 study conditions cannot be applied to other solid tumours.
How to seek care in China
Ask a haematology department, lymphoma center or trial center about the product, collection and manufacture, admission and follow-up requirements. Cell products need a specific basis for access. Lecheng policy cannot replace eligibility for product use.
Available evidence
Approved CAR-T products exist for blood cancers. For example, ciltacabtagene autoleucel is used for relapsed or refractory multiple myeloma meeting approval conditions. CT041-ST-01 is a randomised phase II study in previously treated advanced gastric or gastro-oesophageal junction cancer. Its progression-free survival findings apply only to the enrolled population. Current enrolment must be confirmed by the study center.
Check research eligibility for each project
Personalised mRNA cancer vaccine
Vaccines are designed against individual tumour neoantigens to study whether they activate corresponding immune responses.
View eligibility and treatment pathways
- Applicable situations
- Patients exploring personalised cancer vaccine research who can provide the required tumour samples.
- How to access it in China
- Check product- and project-specific research or translational eligibility, manufacture and follow-up.
SinoCareHub can help you contact the receiving center to compare treatment plans, costs and scheduling, and confirm access requirements. Choose free consultation
- Important risks
- Discuss immune-related reactions, combination treatment risks, progression while waiting for manufacture and continuity of standard treatment.
Costs, cycles and length of stay
- Cost reference (USD)
- A published budget example for a related mRNA-DC technique is about USD 134,470–156,890 for 6–7 sessions, calculated from the personalised DC vaccine per-session price announced at the 2025 conference. This programme is not equivalent to all mRNA vaccines. Additional tests and combined treatment are extra.
- Sessions and treatment cycles
- The schedule includes tumour sampling, sequencing, personalised manufacturing and multiple vaccinations. Confirm manufacturing waits and dose intervals for each programme in China; do not substitute another vaccine’s schedule.
- Length of stay in China
- Confirm sample suitability and manufacturing completion first, then plan travel around vaccination and combined treatment dates. Ask whether you need to wait in China during manufacturing.
Additional costs to budget for
Clarify charges if manufacturing fails, another sample is needed or vaccination cannot proceed. Check whether further doses, tests and follow-up are charged separately.
Eligibility, process and evidence
Treatment or testing process
- 1.Tumour samples and sequence analysis
- 2.Select neoantigens and manufacture
- 3.Monitor immune and clinical outcomes after vaccination
What the doctor will assess
Sample quality, tumour type, disease stage and study criteria determine manufacture and enrolment. The same mRNA label does not mean the same product.
How to seek care in China
Request the product name and research registration or clinical translational basis from the project institution. Confirm what happens if manufacture fails and the follow-up plan.
Available evidence
In the 2023 Nature phase I pancreatic cancer study, 8 of 16 vaccinated patients had vaccine-induced T-cell responses. This measures immune response, not tumour response or cure rates. Early small studies also cannot directly demonstrate efficacy of other institutions' products.
Clinical research
Oncolytic virus M1/VRT106
Research into virus-related treatment and combination medicines in liver cancer; efficacy and safety still require study.
View eligibility and treatment pathways
- Applicable situations
- Patients exploring liver cancer research options, with specific criteria confirmed by the study center.
- How to access it in China
- Check M1/VRT106 registration and confirm recruitment and screening criteria.
SinoCareHub can help you contact the receiving center to compare treatment plans, costs and scheduling, and confirm access requirements. Choose free consultation
- Important risks
- Investigational treatment has uncertain efficacy and safety, and combination treatment adds adverse reactions. Request full informed consent, cost and withdrawal arrangements.
Costs, cycles and length of stay
- Cost reference (USD)
- No published commercial medicine price is available for reference. After formal enrolment in a drug trial subject to GCP, study medicines and study-related medical tests are generally covered by the sponsor, so participants usually do not pay separately for those items. Standard care, non-study services and travel are additional; this does not make the entire treatment free.
- Sessions and treatment cycles
- VRT106 is investigational. Its protocol determines doses, cycles and combined medicines. Before enrolment, request a visit calendar covering screening, dosing and follow-up.
- Length of stay in China
- Ask which visits must take place at the study centre, whether hospitalisation is needed and whether you can leave China between doses. A single injection does not define the entire trip.
Additional costs to budget for
Also confirm responsibility for costs after screening failure, withdrawal, study-related injury and standard treatment. Calculate travel, accommodation and coordination fees separately.
Eligibility, process and evidence
Treatment or testing process
- 1.Screen against the study protocol
- 2.Virus-related treatment and combination medicines
- 3.Monitor safety and efficacy endpoints
What the doctor will assess
Follow registered and hospital-confirmed inclusion and exclusion criteria, including previous immunotherapy, liver function and general condition. Entering screening does not mean approval for treatment.
How to seek care in China
Check current recruitment, screening location and contacts with registered study institutions. Do not buy investigational medicines through intermediaries. Special-access clinical translation and marketing approval require separate verification.
Available evidence
NCT07589244 registers VRT106 with camrelizumab and apatinib for liver cancer after immunotherapy failure. Registration describes design and status; it is not completed proof of efficacy.
Radiotherapy and local treatments
Proton and heavy ion therapy, BNCT and histotripsy
Assessment by institution and indication
Proton and heavy-ion radiotherapy
Particle beam dose distribution is used to plan local irradiation, comparing tumour coverage and normal tissue protection.
View eligibility and treatment pathways
- Applicable situations
- Patients needing local radiotherapy whose tumour location, extent or previous irradiation requires detailed assessment.
- How to access it in China
- The receiving particle treatment center compares plans, costs and scheduling.
SinoCareHub can help you contact the receiving center to compare treatment plans, costs and scheduling, and confirm access requirements. Choose free consultation
- Important risks
- Site-specific radiation injury remains possible. Re-irradiation requires the complete previous plan, not only the number of sessions.
Costs, cycles and length of stay
- Cost reference (USD)
- About USD 41,540 per radiotherapy course; the published average total including inpatient care, tests and nursing is about USD 49,310. This example is from Shanghai Proton and Heavy Ion Hospital. Other centres and international patients need individual estimates.
- Sessions and treatment cycles
- Shanghai Proton and Heavy Ion Hospital describes one course for the same lesion, with an average of 19 fractions. This is the hospital’s statistic, not a fixed number for every patient.
- Length of stay in China
- Simulation, immobilisation and plan verification require additional time. Ask the centre for a personal treatment calendar and outpatient or inpatient arrangements; the minutes spent on one fraction do not represent the whole trip.
Additional costs to budget for
Check whether simulation, planning, all fractions, inpatient care and tests are included. Verify additional charges for combined medicines, further treatment, accommodation and travel. These prices do not apply to other centres.
Eligibility, process and evidence
Treatment or testing process
- 1.Simulation and dose planning
- 2.Particle beam irradiation of the lesion
- 3.Review response and normal tissue effects
What the doctor will assess
Assess tumour location, movement, extent and previous radiotherapy dose. Diffuse metastases require systemic consideration; local irradiation cannot be treated as whole-body treatment.
How to seek care in China
Confirm operating equipment, eligible sites, simulation and planning times with the particle treatment center. A large medical equipment configuration licence does not mean an institution has started accepting patients.
Available evidence
Proton dose distribution may reduce irradiation of some normal tissues, but individual clinical benefit needs comparison with photon radiotherapy appropriate to the condition. Heavy ions and protons differ in evidence, equipment and dose models.
Verify local medicine and device access
Boron neutron capture therapy (BNCT)
Boron medicine combined with neutron irradiation provides a local treatment pathway requiring a specialised medicine-device combination.
View eligibility and treatment pathways
- Applicable situations
- Some head and neck tumour patients; suitability requires pathology, site and previous radiotherapy assessment.
- How to access it in China
- Lecheng has published clinical application records. Confirm medicine and device access and patient acceptance with the institution.
SinoCareHub can help you contact the receiving center to compare treatment plans, costs and scheduling, and confirm access requirements. Choose free consultation
- Important risks
- Mucosal, skin and surrounding tissue injuries remain possible. Discuss cumulative risks from previous radiotherapy and alternative treatments.
Costs, cycles and length of stay
- Cost reference (USD)
- Published estimate: about USD 14,940–74,710 per treatment. Converted from AXA’s September 2026 estimate for mainland China, this is a third-party budgeting reference, not a quote from Panboron Hospital. Other medical expenses, travel and accommodation are additional.
- Sessions and treatment cycles
- Confirm the number of sessions for the boron medicine, device and irradiation plan. The process also includes assessment, simulation, medicine administration and observation. Do not apply an overseas programme’s schedule directly.
- Length of stay in China
- Ask the treating centre in China to list assessment, medicine and device application, irradiation and review dates, then confirm how long to stay in hospital or nearby. Finishing irradiation does not mean you can travel immediately.
Additional costs to budget for
Check whether boron medicine quantities, tests, simulation, planning, inpatient observation and management of local adverse reactions are included. Estimate repeat treatment separately.
Eligibility, process and evidence
Treatment or testing process
- 1.Assess boron medicine distribution
- 2.Neutron irradiation
- 3.Follow up local response and toxicity
What the doctor will assess
Pathological type, site, previous irradiation, organ function and medication conditions all affect eligibility. Failure of other treatments does not establish BNCT suitability.
How to seek care in China
Ask a Lecheng or other center to verify equipment, boron medicine, access documents and indications. Overseas approval cannot replace a Chinese institution's eligibility to use them.
Available evidence
Japan approved relevant BNCT medicines and equipment in 2020 for unresectable head and neck cancer within specified indications. A manufacturer announcement records treatment in Lecheng in 2026. Interpret evidence for each equipment-medicine combination separately. The institution confirms current indications and patient acceptance.
Verify overseas device clearance and domestic pathways separately
Histotripsy
Focused ultrasound mechanically destroys target tissue, offering local treatment different from thermal ablation.
View eligibility and treatment pathways
- Applicable situations
- Some liver tumour patients, with visible lesions on imaging and a safe treatable extent.
- How to access it in China
- Lecheng introduction and application have been documented. The hospital confirms equipment, access and lesion criteria.
SinoCareHub can help you contact the receiving center to compare treatment plans, costs and scheduling, and confirm access requirements. Choose free consultation
- Important risks
- Discuss normal tissue injury, residual lesions, further treatment and possible anaesthesia or other support.
Costs, cycles and length of stay
- Cost reference (USD)
- About USD 33,330–34,360 per treatment (HKSH package reference, Hong Kong). The lower amount covers the treatment package; the upper amount also includes pre-treatment assessment. The treatment package includes anaesthesia and a general ward stay of 2 days and 1 night. These are Hong Kong prices; obtain a separate Hainan Lecheng estimate.
- Sessions and treatment cycles
- Arrangements depend on the number, size, location and treatable extent of liver lesions. Ask which lesions will be treated, how many procedures are planned and when follow-up imaging is due.
- Length of stay in China
- Pre-procedure imaging and anaesthesia assessment, post-treatment observation and reviews require separate arrangements. Overseas outpatient reports cannot support promises of same-day discharge or return travel in China.
Additional costs to budget for
Check imaging, anaesthesia, inpatient care, consumables and reviews. Confirm additional costs for residual lesions, repeat procedures or other combined treatments.
Eligibility, process and evidence
Treatment or testing process
- 1.Locate the target with ultrasound
- 2.Mechanical tissue destruction
- 3.Image the local response
What the doctor will assess
Assess lesion visibility, location and safe treatable extent. Liver device indications cannot be expanded into routine pancreatic, brain or other organ treatment.
How to seek care in China
Confirm equipment and special-access procedures with the Lecheng hospital, and whether existing imaging allows assessment.
Available evidence
The FDA's Edison System K233466 documents describe liver tumour tissue destruction. Device clearance does not demonstrate longer overall survival or suitability for every liver cancer or liver metastasis patient.
Drug treatment
Bispecific antibodies, ADCs, targeted therapy and immunotherapy
Check each product and indication
Bispecific antibodies and T-cell engagers
Bispecific antibodies bind different targets. Some connect T cells to tumours; others block different pathways.
View eligibility and treatment pathways
- Applicable situations
- Patients with small cell lung cancer, lymphoma and other conditions, assessed by specific medicine and treatment line.
- How to access it in China
- Confirm the generic name and current Chinese status, then check routine supply, special access or research pathways.
SinoCareHub can help you contact the receiving center to compare treatment plans, costs and scheduling, and confirm access requirements. Choose free consultation
- Important risks
- T-cell engagers may cause cytokine release reactions. Other bispecific antibodies have their own immune- or target-related risks.
Costs, cycles and length of stay
- Cost reference (USD)
- Medicine cost example: about USD 1,100–1,760 per 3-week cycle for ivonescimab, calculated for adults weighing 50–80 kg and billing full vials, using the hospital’s published 2026 price and public dosing information. This applies only to this medicine; combined chemotherapy, tests and administration are additional.
- Sessions and treatment cycles
- Bispecific antibodies do not share one regimen. Confirm the medicine, whether the first cycle uses step-up dosing, subsequent dose intervals and assessment dates before estimating the number of cycles.
- Length of stay in China
- First doses or dose increases may require additional observation. Ask for separate schedules for the first trip and later cycles, including hospital visits, inpatient care and reviews.
Additional costs to budget for
Check combined medicines, observation during step-up dosing, laboratory tests and adverse reaction management. The total budget depends on the actual number of cycles.
Eligibility, process and evidence
Treatment or testing process
- 1.Check targets and the product
- 2.Treat within approval conditions
- 3.Monitor response and toxicity
What the doctor will assess
Tarlatamab relates to small cell lung cancer. Ivonescimab and other medicines each need pathology, test and treatment-line checks. Lung cancer subtypes are not interchangeable.
How to seek care in China
Ask the hospital about routine supply or special-access applications, first-dose observation and inpatient or outpatient arrangements. Historical Lecheng introduction does not mean current use is confined to Lecheng.
Available evidence
The Lecheng platform documents historical introducing institutions, indications and Chinese marketing status for tarlatamab. Current conditions follow nationally approved product information and confirmation by the receiving hospital.
Check product and indication
Antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs)
Antibodies deliver cytotoxic medicines, offering drug treatment linked to specific targets.
View eligibility and treatment pathways
- Applicable situations
- Breast, gastric, lung and other cancer patients, with targets, prior treatment and specific products checked.
- How to access it in China
- The hospital checks specific ADC product information, test results and supply or trial criteria.
SinoCareHub can help you contact the receiving center to compare treatment plans, costs and scheduling, and confirm access requirements. Choose free consultation
- Important risks
- Discuss blood toxicity, lung reactions and other organ risks for the specific product. Contact the care team for new respiratory symptoms.
Costs, cycles and length of stay
- Cost reference (USD)
- Medicine cost example: about USD 1,560–2,600 per 3-week cycle for trastuzumab deruxtecan, calculated for adults weighing 50–80 kg using 3–5 vials per administration at the published vial price. Other ADCs, cancers and doses differ. Tests, administration and combined treatment are additional.
- Sessions and treatment cycles
- Cycle example: the 2025 submission for trastuzumab rezetecan specifies dosing every 3 weeks until disease progression or unacceptable toxicity. This example does not apply to other ADCs or promise a fixed number of cycles.
- Length of stay in China
- Dosing, blood tests and response assessments do not happen every day. Ask which dates require hospital visits each cycle, whether inpatient care is needed and whether reviews can be done locally.
Additional costs to budget for
Check how unused medicine is billed, combined medicine costs and investigations or care for adverse reactions such as lung problems. Dose changes and longer cycles affect the budget.
Eligibility, process and evidence
Treatment or testing process
- 1.Confirm targets and testing
- 2.Antibody delivery of the payload
- 3.Monitor organ toxicity and response
What the doctor will assess
Check tumour type, target expression, prior treatment and the product. A positive target does not automatically establish eligibility for every corresponding ADC.
How to seek care in China
The hospital checks Chinese product information, pharmacy supply or research projects. Provide complete pathology biomarker results and previous medicines targeting the same marker in your enquiry.
What to consider when comparing plans
When comparing ADCs, check the study population's cancer, target and prior treatment before reviewing efficacy, follow-up and adverse reactions. Different products' results are not directly interchangeable.
Assessment by pathology, tests and product
Targeted therapy and immunotherapy
Match medicines to tumour targets or immune pathways and explore Chinese-developed and imported products.
View eligibility and treatment pathways
- Applicable situations
- Patients choosing systemic treatment using pathology, stage, molecular tests and previous medicines.
- How to access it in China
- Use generic names to confirm indications, hospital supply, costs and medicine continuation after returning home.
SinoCareHub can help you contact the receiving center to compare treatment plans, costs and scheduling, and confirm access requirements. Choose free consultation
- Important risks
- Targeted medicines have organ- and target-related toxicity. Immunotherapy may cause immune-related adverse reactions. Keep emergency contacts for travel and ongoing medicines.
Costs, cycles and length of stay
- Cost reference (USD)
- Immunotherapy medicine examples: about USD 320–1,870 per 3-week cycle, corresponding to sintilimab alone and a published four-medicine combination, respectively, using adult reference assumptions in the submissions. Oral targeted medicines require a separate monthly budget for the specific product. Tests and administration are excluded.
- Sessions and treatment cycles
- Oral targeted medicines and intravenous immunotherapy have different schedules; some treatments continue over time. Confirm daily or per-dose schedules, review intervals and stopping criteria for the specific medicine.
- Length of stay in China
- Plan the initial assessment, medicine collection or infusion and follow-up separately. Continuing treatment at home requires checking local supply and clinical handover; one pack’s duration does not define the trip.
Additional costs to budget for
Check molecular testing, regular imaging, blood tests and adverse reaction management. For long-term medicines, also budget for continuing treatment and reviews after returning home.
Eligibility, process and evidence
Treatment or testing process
- 1.Assess pathology and biomarkers
- 2.Match an applicable regimen
- 3.Reassess efficacy and adverse reactions
What the doctor will assess
Doctors assess pathology, stage, targets, prior medicines and other conditions. The hospital also decides whether additional molecular testing is needed.
How to seek care in China
Contact the receiving hospital to confirm generic names, testing requirements, supply and medicine continuation at home. Do not stop medicines yourself or directly substitute similar products across countries.
Available evidence
Resistance may require reassessment; targeted treatment and immunotherapy both have eligibility limits. Chinese negotiated insurance prices or study response rates cannot directly serve as international patient quotes or individual prognosis.
Surgery and supportive care
Minimally invasive surgery, AI, symptom management and haematopoietic stem cell transplantation
Assessment by procedure and condition
Minimally invasive and robotic surgery
Thoracoscopic, laparoscopic and robotic approaches offer different surgical routes, selected according to resection goals and team experience.
View eligibility and treatment pathways
- Applicable situations
- Patients needing surgical assessment of resectability, procedure and post-operative function.
- How to access it in China
- The relevant cancer surgery department confirms feasible procedures, anaesthetic conditions, admission and recovery.
SinoCareHub can help you contact the receiving center to compare treatment plans, costs and scheduling, and confirm access requirements. Choose free consultation
- Important risks
- Discuss bleeding, infection, organ function changes, anaesthesia and recovery risks. A doctor must assess return travel.
Costs, cycles and length of stay
- Cost reference (USD)
- Historical inpatient reference for thoracic robotic surgery: about USD 10,530–14,240, the middle 50% of costs in the non-infected group of a 2025 paper. This is not a range for all operations. Other organs, international departments and complex procedures require separate estimates.
- Sessions and treatment cycles
- Estimate this admission around the planned operation, while allowing for pre-operative treatment, staged surgery or post-operative adjuvant treatment. Recovery depends on the organ, resection extent and overall health.
- Length of stay in China
- Ask the surgical team to estimate pre-operative tests, inpatient recovery and post-discharge reviews separately. Return travel depends on recovery assessment; discharge does not mean fitness to fly.
Additional costs to budget for
Check additional charges for conversion to open surgery, reconstruction, intensive care, complications and rehabilitation. Budget separately for subsequent radiotherapy or medicines.
Eligibility, process and evidence
Treatment or testing process
- 1.Assess resectability and anaesthesia
- 2.Select a suitable surgical approach
- 3.Pathological confirmation and rehabilitation
What the doctor will assess
Assess tumour extent, previous surgery, health and team experience. Some patients need open surgery or other treatment. Incision size alone should not determine the choice.
How to seek care in China
Ask the relevant cancer surgery department about the procedure, possible conversion to open surgery, pathology reports and subsequent treatment continuity.
What to consider when comparing plans
First clarify whether the operation aims to remove a tumour, establish diagnosis or relieve symptoms. Then compare resection extent, functional effects and recovery for the proposed procedure. A robot is an operating tool; choices still depend on the condition and team experience.
Validate uses of the specific tool
AI-assisted care
Assists data analysis and medical decisions. Specific uses need validation and doctor review.
View eligibility and treatment pathways
- Applicable situations
- Patients exploring assisted analysis in imaging, pathology or treatment planning.
- How to access it in China
- Ask the hospital which tool is used, its purpose and which standard tests remain necessary.
SinoCareHub can help you contact the receiving center to compare treatment plans, costs and scheduling, and confirm access requirements. Choose free consultation
- Important risks
- Models may produce errors or population biases. Do not use AI output to choose medicines, stop medicines or delay pathology tests yourself.
Costs, cycles and length of stay
- Cost reference (USD)
- No separate commercial surcharge for imaging AI is available for reference. Under the applicable NHSA radiology pricing policy, AI fees should generally not be added after charging for the corresponding examination. Basic imaging is still charged; confirm other AI services such as pathology or treatment planning individually.
- Sessions and treatment cycles
- AI-assisted analysis is not itself a course of cancer treatment. For the imaging, pathology or planning service, confirm record submission, clinician review and report timing.
- Length of stay in China
- The need to attend depends on whether underlying tests are complete and whether further sampling or tests are required. Confirm report delivery times with the hospital.
Additional costs to budget for
Additional imaging, pathology sampling and molecular tests may incur extra charges. An AI service fee does not replace a diagnosis or treatment budget.
Eligibility, process and evidence
Treatment or testing process
- 1.Input suitable records
- 2.Algorithm-assisted analysis
- 3.Doctor reviews findings alongside the records
What the doctor will assess
Confirm the tool's task, appropriate authorisation and whether its data match your circumstances.
How to seek care in China
The hospital explains the tool's role in this examination, review responsibility and whether standard testing is needed.
Available evidence
NCI uses AI in several areas of cancer research and assisted decision-making. Image models predicting genetic changes cannot be described as replacing tissue or molecular testing. Research accuracy cannot be rewritten as hospital cure rates.
Supportive treatment needs assessment
Integrated Chinese and Western medicine and supportive treatment
Discuss symptom management and adjunctive care during anticancer treatment. Specific measures need supporting evidence.
View eligibility and treatment pathways
- Applicable situations
- Cancer patients needing management of pain, nausea, fatigue and rehabilitation issues.
- How to access it in China
- Check measures and medication interactions with oncology and supportive care teams at established hospitals.
SinoCareHub can help you contact the receiving center to compare treatment plans, costs and scheduling, and confirm access requirements. Choose free consultation
- Important risks
- Traditional Chinese medicines and supplements may interact with anticancer medicines. A 'natural' label does not remove liver or kidney toxicity or justify unproven claims.
Costs, cycles and length of stay
- Cost reference (USD)
- Acupuncture-only reference: about USD 60–120 per session, converted from published self-pay prices for standard and special manipulation acupuncture at Shenzhen Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital’s International Medical Center of Acupuncture and TUINA. Senior physician surcharges, consultations, herbal medicines, nutrition and other rehabilitation are extra. This is not a complete supportive care package.
- Sessions and treatment cycles
- Care is scheduled around pain, nutrition, fatigue or rehabilitation goals and adjusted after review. Supportive care may continue throughout cancer treatment; a fixed number of sessions cannot promise completion.
- Length of stay in China
- Confirm outpatient, day-care or inpatient needs and coordinate reviews with ongoing cancer treatment. The team should assess whether care can continue after returning home.
Additional costs to budget for
Check reviews, tests relating to medicine interactions and long-term medicine costs. Arrange care outside hospital, accompanying support and accommodation separately.
Eligibility, process and evidence
Treatment or testing process
- 1.Assess symptoms and medicines
- 2.Select evidence-supported adjunctive measures
- 3.Reassess effects and interactions
What the doctor will assess
Tell the oncology team about all Chinese medicines, supplements and adjunctive treatments. Acupuncture and similar measures need infection, bleeding and local assessments.
How to seek care in China
Discuss joint support from oncology, pain, nutrition, rehabilitation and traditional Chinese medicine departments through established healthcare institutions.
Available evidence
Studies provide supportive evidence for acupuncture in some cancer-related symptoms. This does not establish tumour elimination or guarantee improved immune function.
Assessment by disease risk and donor
Haematopoietic stem cell transplantation
Haematopoietic stem cell infusion supports treatment. Autologous and allogeneic transplants have different purposes and risks.
View eligibility and treatment pathways
- Applicable situations
- Some leukaemia and lymphoma patients, assessed for disease risk, organ function and donors.
- How to access it in China
- Confirm disease assessment, donor screening and long-term follow-up requirements with a blood transplant center.
SinoCareHub can help you contact the receiving center to compare treatment plans, costs and scheduling, and confirm access requirements. Choose free consultation
- Important risks
- Risks include infection, bleeding, organ toxicity and graft-versus-host disease after allogeneic transplantation, requiring long-term medical follow-up.
Costs, cycles and length of stay
- Cost reference (USD)
- Historical reference for the first allogeneic transplant admission: about USD 29,880–59,770 (a doctor’s published 2021 reference without severe complications). Donor type affects costs. Pre-transplant induction, post-discharge follow-up and readmissions are excluded; autologous transplant requires a separate estimate.
- Sessions and treatment cycles
- Plan donor assessment or autologous collection, conditioning, stem cell infusion and recovery as separate phases. The process may take months; immune recovery and long-term follow-up do not end on infusion day.
- Length of stay in China
- Besides inpatient care, you may need accommodation near the centre and frequent reviews. Ask the centre in China for post-discharge monitoring and return travel criteria; blood count recovery does not mean permission to leave.
Additional costs to budget for
Allow for infections, transfusions, graft-versus-host disease and readmissions. Budget separately for accompanying support, accommodation outside hospital and long-term monitoring.
Eligibility, process and evidence
Treatment or testing process
- 1.Disease and donor assessment
- 2.Conditioning and cell infusion
- 3.Immune reconstitution and long-term follow-up
What the doctor will assess
Transplant type depends on the disease, response, organ function and available donors. Related donors need independent assessment. Absence of waiting or rejection risk cannot be promised.
How to seek care in China
Confirm records, donor screening, stay requirements and monitoring after returning home with the blood transplant center.
Available evidence
Post-transplant infection, immune recovery and graft-versus-host disease management affect long-term care. Data for different diseases and protocols cannot be combined into one success rate.
Public hospital records do not establish current availability, patient acceptance or recruitment. Research and specially authorised use require checking the specific program. Outcomes vary between individuals and must be assessed by a specialist doctor. Study results cannot directly predict an individual's outcome.
Prepare records and confirm costs
Prepare records first so the hospital can assess suitability
Organise the records you already have and describe your current condition and the question you want to address. Ask the receiving hospital which tests, if any, are missing.
- Pathology and staging records
- Recent imaging and test reports
- Previous treatment and medication records
- Existing genetic or target testing results
What else should you tell the hospital?
State your current medications, comorbidities and important adverse effects, and include a treatment timeline. Assessment for repeat radiotherapy also requires the original radiotherapy plan.
Ask which additional tests are needed, how long you may need to stay in China and how follow-up tests and medication will continue after returning home.
The estimate should cover the full treatment process
Ask the hospital for an itemised estimate and clarify which costs are included and which may be charged separately.
- Assessment and tests
- Medicines, cell preparation or treatment procedures
- Inpatient monitoring, management of complications and subsequent follow-up
Confirm hospital medical charges, coordination fees and travel expenses separately. A drug's listed price or the price of one treatment session usually does not represent the total expense.
What should you confirm if you have insurance?
Check with your insurer whether this treatment is covered, whether pre-authorisation is required, and the benefit limits and exclusions. Prices after reimbursement for people insured in China do not apply to all international patients. Inclusion in a commercial insurance list does not mean your policy will pay.
How is special authorisation in Lecheng requested?
The receiving hospital submits the application
Eligible medical institutions in Lecheng may apply to use certain urgently needed medicines and devices that are marketed abroad but not yet registered in China. First confirm the specific product and receiving institution, then ask the hospital to explain assessment requirements and application procedures.
Continuing medication and taking medicines out of the zone
If you need to continue medication, ask the hospital whether a reasonable quantity for personal use may be taken out of the zone. Procedures for leaving Lecheng with medicines and rules for bringing them into another country must be checked separately.
New technology research and special-access clinical application
Special-access clinical application of new technologies, such as cell and gene therapies, is a different pathway from clinical trial enrolment. The hospital should explain the specific approval or registration basis, and informed consent and follow-up requirements.
How SinoCareHub can help
Once you have a treatment option you want to explore, describe your condition and needs. We help organise records, contact hospitals and follow up on assessments and care arrangements.
- Organise medical records and test reports
- Organise pathology, imaging and genetic testing results, arrange previous treatments and current medications chronologically, and list missing records. Document translation is arranged according to hospital requirements and the agreed scope.
- Coordinate a preliminary assessment of treatment suitability
- Contact the relevant doctors to check indications, contraindications and available access pathways, and follow up on any additional tests needed. Help organise preliminary opinions and coordinate Chinese and English versions as needed. The receiving hospital determines final treatment eligibility and the plan.
- Ask hospitals about treatment programs
- Confirm patient acceptance requirements, availability of specific medicines and devices, or study recruitment with the relevant department. Organise the hospital's responses so you can see which matters are confirmed and which are still pending.
- Follow up on applications and appointments
- Help coordinate with the formal application process for special authorisation in Lecheng or a clinical trial, organise materials according to institutional requirements, and follow up on assessment and appointments. Eligible medical institutions submit special authorisation applications; research centers screen patients for trial enrolment.
- Confirm costs and care arrangements
- Follow up on the hospital's itemised estimate, anticipated length of stay and follow-up requirements. Confirm hospital medical charges, SinoCareHub fees and expenses such as transport and accommodation separately. Interpretation, appointment accompaniment and travel coordination are arranged as agreed.
You can also start with our free consultation service. In your initial inquiry, state your diagnosis, treatments received and the option you want to explore. The team will confirm how records are received and the service scope with you.
