Lung cancer: ADAURA evidence for post-operative EGFR-targeted treatment

When discussing adjuvant targeted treatment after surgery, match the EGFR mutation, stage and operation with study conditions.

Randomised research and decision interpretation

Population and background

ADAURA enrolled resected non-small cell lung cancer patients meeting stage criteria and carrying specified EGFR mutations.

What the evidence shows

ADAURA randomised 682 resected, EGFR-mutated stage IB–IIIA patients. In the 2023 overall survival analysis, five-year overall survival in the full study population was 88% with osimertinib and 78% with placebo. Stage, mutation and post-operative conditions must match.

Conclusions that cannot be drawn

These results come from patients meeting post-operative stage and EGFR mutation criteria; they do not apply to all lung cancer patients. Treatment in China also requires checking the hospital plan, medicine supply, budget and follow-up after returning home.

Questions to ask your doctor

Do my EGFR mutation and post-operative stage meet the discussion criteria? Do I need other adjuvant treatment, how long will the proposed medicine continue, and how will reassessment and medicine supply be coordinated between countries?

Targeted therapy and immunotherapy

Molecular targeted therapy and immune checkpoint inhibition rely on different evidence. A medicine being new or inexpensive is not sufficient reason to choose it.

Sources and scope of interpretation

The following sources support the disease information or explanations of evidence on this page. Access and actual patient acceptance requirements must be checked separately for each region. The information checking date does not indicate review by an external medical expert.

Tell us what help you need

Ask about the costs and arrangements for cancer care. SinoCareHub helps organise records, contact hospitals and follow up on arrangements. The receiving hospital and doctors determine the diagnosis and treatment plan.

Describe your needs in the initial consultation. The team will help organise medical records in subsequent communication.

After you submit, we'll first get in touch to understand your situation. Hospital acceptance, the care plan, and costs will be confirmed later.
