What this visa-free entry allows
Foreign nationals from the 61 countries listed below who hold an ordinary passport may enter Hainan without a visa for short-term purposes that include medical treatment. They may stay within the administrative region of Hainan for a maximum of 30 days. The Administration's policy text dated 20 August 2026 names these 61 countries and includes medical treatment among those purposes. The policy does not apply to entry for work or study.
Even if you meet the entry conditions, confirm separately with the hospital whether it can accept you and arrange tests or treatment within your permitted stay.

Trips this policy does not cover
- The hospital, tests, or treatment are outside Hainan. Activity under this policy is limited to the administrative region of Hainan.
- The expected stay is longer than 30 days. The stay is calculated from 00:00 on the day after entry.
- The purpose of entry is work or study.
- Your nationality is not among the 61 countries listed below, or your passport is not an ordinary passport.
- You already qualify under a bilateral visa exemption or China's unilateral visa-free policy. Those rules apply instead of treating the Hainan 30-day policy as the only route.
In these situations, confirm the entry route with the visa or immigration authority. If a visa application may require hospital documents, start with China medical visa invitation letter and hospital documents. The hospital decides whether it can issue a document. The receiving authority decides the visa result.
The 61 countries on the current list
The 61 countries below are taken from the National Immigration Administration policy text of 20 August 2026, in the order used on that page. The announcement of 9 February 2024 named 59 countries. This text adds Vietnam and Kyrgyzstan. This 30-day medical entry applies to ordinary-passport holders whose nationality is on this list. If the Administration later changes the list, use the updated text on that page.

How long you can stay, and where
Entry and exit are through the open ports in Hainan. The stay is no more than 30 days, calculated from 00:00 on the day after entry. During that stay, travel is limited to the administrative region of Hainan.
This visa-free entry therefore cannot be used to enter Hainan and then continue on your own to a hospital in another province. If the care plan includes a hospital outside Hainan, check a visa or another entry policy before buying flights.
Entry permission and a hospital appointment are separate
Visa-free eligibility does not replace a hospital appointment. The hospital decides whether to accept the visit according to its department, schedule, and international-patient process. An appointment also does not mean border inspection will admit you for medical treatment. Confirm both before departure.
The policy text does not say that a companion may automatically use the patient's medical-treatment purpose. Each companion should check their own nationality, passport type, and purpose of entry.

What to check before you travel
- Check your nationality against the 61 countries listed in this article, and confirm that you hold an ordinary passport and that medical treatment is still a permitted purpose.
- Confirm that the hospital, tests, treatment, and stay are all inside Hainan and within 30 days.
- Ask the hospital whether the department can accept the visit, which records it needs, and what language support is available.
- If the stay is longer, or you need to leave Hainan, confirm a visa or another entry policy with the responsible authority.
SinoCareHub can organize questions from your existing records and proposed travel dates, then ask a hospital whether a short visit is feasible. Start with your care needs, records and draft itinerary. The responsible authority decides entry eligibility; the hospital provides medical recommendations and decides whether to accept the visit.
