Check files and recipients before sending medical records
Check the recipient and file versions, then ask about missing items and appointment status. Sending records does not mean medical review is complete.
Confirm the receiving channel
Use the hospital’s published contact details to ask who receives this request, which file formats are accepted and whether translation is needed. Use these as questions rather than assuming identical rules across hospitals.
Send only the records needed for this request to a verified recipient. Check unfamiliar links asking for public uploads with the original contact first.

Check each file and version
Open each file before sending and check the name, examination date and page count. Label originals and translations separately and retain original files. This is an organizing method, not a nationwide hospital rule.
If images or reports cannot be opened, ask the issuing institution how to obtain copies and tell the receiving hospital what is missing. The hospital decides whether the records suffice for assessment.
Separate receipt from acceptance
Ask the recipient to confirm readability, missing items and who will contact you next. Until appointment details are explicit, verify with the hospital; an automatic receipt is not a confirmed appointment.
CDC guidance on medical tourism advises retaining medical records for subsequent clinicians. Start your own copy before travel. This article does not replace hospital assessment or justify changing treatment.
