02 · Understand hospital capabilities

Understand hospital capabilities through specific care resources

Both cancer specialty hospitals and general hospitals in China provide relevant specialist resources. Start by reviewing their clinical work, cancer-specific teams and clinical research platforms.

Find a hospital directly

A national cancer care and research platform

Cancer Hospital, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences hosts the National Cancer Center and the National Clinical Research Center for Cancer. Its hospital introduction lists surgery, radiotherapy and drug treatment among its clinical approaches.

Questions to ask when contacting a hospital

When contacting the hospital, ask which department sees your cancer type and whether pathology review or multidisciplinary discussion is needed.

Specialist teams organised by cancer type

Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center has departments for nasopharyngeal cancer, breast tumours and gastric surgery, among others. Its introduction explains that multidisciplinary care is organised by cancer type, with different specialties discussing treatment together.

Questions to ask when contacting a hospital

When comparing hospitals, learn about the team for the same cancer type. If an MDT consultation is needed, confirm how to apply and which records are required first.

Connecting clinical research with routine care

Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center has a clinical trial center supporting research into new treatments. Research opportunities need to be checked for each project.

Questions to ask when contacting a hospital

When exploring clinical trials, ask the hospital about current recruitment, eligibility, possible risks and whether international patients are accepted.

What do the Fudan specialty reputation ranking and Science and Technology Evaluation Metrics measure?

Fudan specialty reputation rankings: understanding peer assessments

Fudan University's Hospital Management Institute produces specialty reputation rankings through expert assessments. Distinguish overall hospital rankings from specialty rankings and check the year. Overall reputation also needs to be understood in relation to the specific department and your condition.

Science and Technology Evaluation Metrics (STEM): understanding research capacity

The Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences' STEM assessment evaluates hospitals through scientific output, academic impact and research conditions. It can help explain the research and innovation foundation. Doctors must still assess individual treatment outcomes in relation to the condition.

Even a highly ranked hospital needs to be assessed for suitability for your condition. Survival data cannot be directly compared across patients with different subtypes, stages and treatment phases. Hospitals on this page are presented as a directory, rather than ordered by historical rankings or individual hospital survival rates.

03 · Prepare to discuss your care

Confirm these three points before contacting a hospital

  1. Clarify the purpose of this consultation

Are you seeking a second opinion or a discussion of surgery, radiotherapy or drug treatment? Organise your pathology and staging records with a treatment timeline so the hospital can confirm the receiving department.

  2. Confirm the department and assessment method

Ask about the team's experience with the same cancer type, whether a multidisciplinary consultation is needed, and how the hospital receives medical records and original imaging. Research opportunities must be checked separately for each study.

  3. Obtain care acceptance and cost information

Confirm the hospital campus, schedule and language support, and distinguish hospital medical charges from coordination fees. Then discuss follow-up after returning home with the hospital and plan your trip accordingly.

Tell us what help you need

Ask about hospital selection and arrangements for cancer care. SinoCareHub helps organise records, contact hospitals and follow up on arrangements. The receiving hospital and doctors determine the diagnosis and treatment plan.

Describe your needs in the initial consultation. The team will help organise medical records in subsequent communication.

What happens after you submit an inquiry?

  1. 1. First, discuss your needs

The SinoCareHub team uses the contact details you provide to learn about your diagnosis, treatment history and the question you want to address. How records will be received is confirmed in subsequent communication.

  2. 2. Check the records and assessment options

We help organise records, contact hospitals and follow up on whether additional material is needed and whether the hospital can arrange a specialist assessment or second opinion.

  3. 3. Confirm the response, costs and next steps

Based on the hospital's response, we follow up on patient acceptance requirements, appointments and costs. Hospital medical charges, SinoCareHub coordination fees and third-party expenses are explained separately, and the specific service scope is confirmed with you.

Contacting the platform and hospital assessment are separate steps. Hospital responses and scheduling depend on record completeness and care arrangements; the hospital's confirmation governs. If the hospital cannot currently accept the case or needs more records, we first clarify the reasons and outstanding questions, then discuss subsequent arrangements.

After you submit, we'll first get in touch to understand your situation. Hospital acceptance, the care plan, and costs will be confirmed later.
